Is Interior Design right for you?!

Based off the Truity test that I completed, it is said that I am mainly Humanitarian meaning I am a very driven person. who wants to make the world a better place. I have a very creative and imaginative mind. The second biggest piece says that I am an innovator meaning that I like to solve complex and rational problems. I like to use my analytical skills to come up with ways to solve things. The third biggest part of me is that I am a caretaker. I want to be of service to other and I prefer to work within established institutions rather than be the owner of a company because of me being more of a “team player” type of person. The smallest portion is that I am a pragmatist which means that I like to ensure accuracy and efficiency and I am someone who goes after real-world goals. My test showed that my top job tasks include managing, deciding, strategizing and selling. My top core values included influence, leadership, risk-taking and achievement. Some of the career choices it listed I would most likely be a part of include sales manager, chef or head cook, producer or director, top executive and more. I personally disagree with all of these because I feel that interior design is the career path for me.

Although the test did not give interior design as one of the career paths I would most likely take, I truly feel that it is where I belong. I have always been a super creative and imaginative person when it came to my room, my house, other peoples houses and rooms, etc. I have always changed my room around, helped people with furniture choices and I wouldn’t want to pursue any other career. After graduation, I want to work with residential spaces. I want to be able to rebuild or completely build the perfect home for people whether it’s a retired couple or a newly married couple or even a family of five, I want to be able to give anyone and everyone there dream home. I already have a connection with a firm in Indy that I really want to work for. One of the interior designers is an entrepreneur there and she told me to keep in contact with her so that one day I can potentially come work for her. One of the things I am most excited about is just to be able to see houses and different spaces I put together when it is all done, I feel it will be a very satisfying experience.
